In April 2023, the Mercer County Fairgrounds teamed up with Bear Hollow Wood Carvers from French Lick, Indiana, to bring this whimsical and welcoming giant to life. Known for their custom chainsaw carving and sculpture shows, Jason and Cindy Emmons led their talented team in crafting this 600-700 pound-headed Sasquatch during a four-day festival that coincided with a total solar eclipse.

Bear Hollow had previously created a Sasquatch sculpture in French Lick, garnering a fantastic response from visitors. Inspired by this success and desiring something unique for Celina, the carvers and the fair board decided on Bigfoot over other local symbols like chickens or dairy cows.

Bringing Bigfoot to Life

The creation process was a sight to behold. Starting on Saturday and culminating on Monday, the chainsaw-wielding artisans meticulously carved the giant figure, adding intricate details that make it a perfect photo opportunity for visitors. The sculpture was then spray-stained to preserve its majestic appearance.
