Verizon Is Giving Customers a $20 Credit for the Jan. 14 Outage — But You Must Claim It

When Verizon’s nationwide outage on January 14 left more than a million customers without service for hours, it caused real disruption — especially in small towns where cell service is often the only connection to work, school, and family. Now, Verizon is offering a $20 credit to impacted customers, but there’s an important detail: the credit is not automatic.


How to Claim Your Credit

Verizon is directing customers to redeem the credit through the myVerizon app. That’s the fastest and most reliable way to get it.

Here’s what to do:

  • Open the myVerizon app

  • Look for a banner or notification about the outage credit

  • Tap “Take Action” and follow the prompts to accept the $20 credit

Verizon says customers will also receive a text message when the credit becomes available in their app.
